Hi,
In Swahili singular is used for one item, while plural is used for zero or
more than one item. However, the plural form of a noun is not simply adding
's' to it (or any other letter for that matter) but the plural depends on
the "ngeli" of that word. For example
chair- chairs swahili equivalent is kiti - viti (ngeli ya Ki - Vi)
tree - trees swahili equivalent is mti - miti (ngeli ya M - Mi)
and so on and so forth. there are about 8 "ngeli" but they all generally
stick to the format of "singular used for one item, while plural is used for
zero or more than one item."
Please configure launchpad as soon as possible so that we can embark on the
task of translating Ubuntu to Swahili. Swahili is one of the most widely
spoken languages in Africa and its a shame that no Linux Distro has a
language pack for it.
Please dont hesitate to contact me for any more details.
Thanks,
Miano Njoka
