Intropsecting Connected Slots/Plugs From Within a Snap

>From within a snapped program I'd like to check if all my slots/plugs are
connected properly. This way I can either handle functionality different if
something is not connected, or inform the user to connect before proceeding.

I'm guessing the snapd-control interface contains this functionality, but
then that requires that the snapd-control interface is also manually
connected. In addition I'll need to write client code to connect to snapd
and query it.

Is there a better way to handle this? It would be great if one could
introspect connected interfaces for the snap itsself without additional
connections.
