I've not (yet) tried building the mir snap on my rpi, but I did verify that
you can build armhf snaps on your rpi using by installing lxd:

Interested to hear if you can build a mir snap in a similar way (I did have
a few issues when I tried the above, like grabbing the resulting snap from
the lxc container, not sure if that's been fixed).
