Hello snapcrafters!
We are pleased to announce the release of version 2.7 of snapcraft:
https://launchpad.net/snapcraft/+milestone/2.7
This release was mostly focused on fixing paper cuts, but the 2.7 is due to:
- Better support for pkg-config within installdir, the stage dir and
the host.
- Support for library lookups from the host, this mainly allows to use
`build-packages` again instead of `stage-packages` (development is now
smoother and allows for faster iterations).
- The make plugin gained the ability to pass parameters to it.
- The copy plugin now supports the common `source` related keywords in
the part definition.
Among the fixes that might interest you are:
- No longer allow invalid keywords in parts if the plugin does not
define it in the schema.
- Better errors when talking to the store when not logged in.
- Improvements when cleaning an older snapcraft based project.
To consume the latest snapcraft release on Xenial Xerus (16.04), we
suggest you install the snapcraft package from the Ubuntu Archives:
sudo apt update
sudo apt install snapcraft
If you don't want to use the examples from the source branch you can
also install the examples package:
sudo apt install snapcraft-examples
After installing this you can find them in
/usr/share/doc/snapcraft-examples/examples.
