not if you use fixrtc .. it reads the last mount time of your rootfs and
uses the date command to set your clock to this time during boot, the
rtc should not be involved in this case ... 

i wonder why fixrtc does not do what it is supposed to do here ... 

i have uploaded an initrd with slightly modified fixrtc at:

http://people.canonical.com/~ogra/snappy/initrd.img

please try booting this one and see if your clock ends up with a better
date ...
