New kernel packages - please test!

My relatively uninteresting i686 test box rebooted okay and is running fine.
Would be keen to test on my toilet seat iBook, though.

There is a lot of flashy stuff as grub starts; something at the top of the
screen with "ESC", a couple of flashes, then the grub summary of what it's
booting (can we kill that?) and then "Starting Ubuntu..." But the quietness
is nice! :)
