In another missive I mentioned a squealing PC speaker. My solution was 
to move the system from the PII box to a similar PIII - both Intel 
chipsets, both onboard SCSI.

This is my server (boot server, debian mirror etc). It's not ideal to 
have down or to use for testing:=(
