optusnet.com.au host mirrors of debian, redhat, fedora, cpan & sourceforge. 
The mirror admin apparently hangs about on #slug on freenode. I'm sure one of 
the Sydney contingent knows them.

Though it's not a fully public mirror, I know that Internode may be able to 
host a mirror of ubuntu for all their users. Their mirror is effectively free 
(cost) for all their users. As a customer (thru work), I can always put in a 
request for them to sync a mirror, preferably if they can pull an initial 
copy from somewhere cheap for them to access. If they get enough requests, 
they'll add it.

And I know of a few other sites that while bandwidth isn't a problem, space 
might be. I'll ask about.
