Actually funnily enough I like this idea: there is too much confusion
about what the relationship between kde and gnome is for new linux
users. The reality is, they are both excellent desktops available for
ONE excellent distribution. As for edubuntu, I think that definitely
does warrant a separate name because it adds a new technology into the
mix with LTSP which warrants separate marketing: it has a separate
userbase whereas ubuntu and kubuntu are basically aimed at the same
audience.
Your idea won't happen though, the separate name thing is too important
marketing-wise. As has been said already on this thread, it leads to
having two high ranking distributions rather than one.
