This isn't always true - see prism54 and prism54softmac, for instance.
For certain hardware, both are valid choices. However, for fullmac
hardware, prism54 should be preferred over prism54softmac.
(Yes, there are edge cases where the removableness of the hardware
breaks things - the fact that a 100% solution is impossible shouldn't
prevent the 95% solution from being implemented)
