For some reason, I after installing Gimpshop
http://www.plasticbugs.com/ on my wife's Mac I found Gimp easier to
understand. It doesn't really make sense, because Gimpshop puts a
Photoshop-like GUI on gimp, but maybe it just gave me some confidence
that the features I was looking for were actually present somewhere.
Actually it probably also helps that I've tinkered with gimp here and
there for several years now, much more than I've used Photoshop in
that time.
