IBM may sell a lot of support, but they've also spent a lot of time
as one of the largest software companies in the world.  It wasn't that
long ago that they bought Tivoli, which doesn't make anything but
proprietary software.  Lotus is another software maker they've purchased
purely to get their hands on a piece of software.

Yes, they make more money on services than on software sales, but this
isn't because they don't sell a lot of software.
