I don't understand this.  Are there legitimate reasons for such a 
preference?  I don't use GNOME or KDE, being an IceWM fan,myself, but I
have both GNOME and KDE because I like and use several programs from
each 'protocol'.  I do end up with a lot of different libraries but with
disc space so cheap these days...
