Businesses that make money from selling software are a tiny, tiny
fragment of the economy. In fact, they're not even a majority of
the software industry. The vast majority of programmers are employed
writing programs that are used only by the company that employs them,
and Open Source helps those endeavors. The vast majority of people
in the computer industry have nothing to lose from this scenario,
and much to gain.
The only question is whether or not the value inherent in the "licensing
IP" model of software development (there is some, regardless of what
some of the zealots in our community would have us believe) outweighs the
damage done to our freedoms to keep it viable in some, all, or no cases.
