Indeed...
That's why I can't resort to accepting the sluggishness of Gnome and all
(most) of its apps.

So as much as I love my Gnome, the situation can't possibly be
justified...
But I gather they have started work on it for 2.14, and will continue
identifying and fixing bottlenecks in future releases, so thanks guys,
