Keyboard hotkeys: how/where to ask for improved support ?

Hello,

The keyboard that came with my 9 year old Nec computer, was looking
tired. Because I loved it loads, I recently spent 2 hours dismantling
every bit of it carefully, washing and cleaning every square millimeter
of every key both sides with lots of love. And when I put it all back
together, it sure looked much better... but didn't work very well
anymore :o( I guess it was his way to ask for us to divorce ! :-/

After much research I eventually found a good replacement, thanks to
Cherry still being in business, and I bought this model of theirs:

Because I love it (it's refreshing to see that some companies still
think there is a market for quality products in an ocean of junk...), I
expect I will stick with it for 10 years like the other one, or more if
possible, so I would like to invest some time to make its
numerous "hotkeys" work out of the box in Ubuntu, so that in the future
Ubuntu releases, it just works.

It has 19 special keys, half of them use the normal F1 to F11 keys,
via a special modifier key, the other half use dedicated/special keys.

I think that most of the problem is solved, in that when I go to the
K/B preferences GUI in Gnome, whatever key I press, it comes up with a
scan code for it. So it's only a matter of assigning keys to actions I
would guess/hope.
In Edgy, none of the keys are pre-configured.
However in the latest Feisty Live CD, Herd 5, I noticed with delight
that a few keys had been assigned (yay ! :-), I think it was volume
up/volume down/stop/calculator/e-mail/web browser, and maybe also
"mute". I don't find all 19 keys to be useful in Linux, but it would be
great to have the remaining few keys that control the music player (that
would be play/pause, next, previous), to be pre-configured as well, if
just because I use them all the time ;-)

But, to the point of my e-mail... I am reluctant to file this as a
"bug" in Malone (and what package would I target anyway ?! ), so how can
I do ? who should I contact to ask for more keys to be pre-configured ?
Who is in charge of configuring these special keys ?

Thanks for your help/info ! :o)

PS: sorry for the long e-mail.
