Are there any other Linux/Ubuntu users/developers in your region? Is
there already a LUG? This could be quite a lot of work if you're the
only one who can provide information to them. If you have the ability
to book a room at the university in the evenings/weekends then one of
the hardest parts is already taken care of. Most user groups have
regular meetings (in the order of monthly normally) where there are
talks covering topics of interest to the group. If your group are all
beginners with a programming interest, perhaps you could prepare talks
about the GNU GPL, FHS, python, C, shell scripting, that sort of
thing. Also encouraging them to try out some of the Free Software
available then give talks about their experiences with it. Encourage
them to talk about installing the OS, or installing/configuring Apache
or postgres or Asterix, for example.
Perhaps this could also be a fabulous opportunity to recruit
volunteers to improve the Asian language support in Ubuntu as well.
Certainly make sure it's known to them that they have the opportunity
to contribute themselves.
HTH,
Pete
