Per Bruce Perens via PCWorld:

"Novell did not get complete rights regarding Microsoft patents," he
said. "For example, office productivity applications are specifically
excluded. ... OpenOffice.org is excluded by name, WINE and Open-Xchange are
excluded by name,"[1]

So what I'd like to know is, just what *did* Microsoft get out of the deal?
I'm not quite sure how Microsoft benefits by selling SUSE licenses for
Novell.

Perhaps it's worth it to them from the interoperability standpoint and they
figure it won't amount to a hill of beans when it comes to profits from
Windows?

Hummm.
