I think those are always installed IIRC, for exactly the reason that you
name: it's possible that you need it in the future.  There are also many
laptops (and maybe also mini-desktops with laptop hard disks) that use
nvidia graphics.

And some laptops have a mini-PCI slot, so it's even possible that nvidia
makes a graphics card for that one day...  ;)
