Well, you can thank the Cold War for the creation of the Internet.
DARPAnet was originally a communications network for the Strategic Air
Command which had built-in redundancy so if one part was destroyed in
a nuclear attack the other sections could pick up the slack.

As for government run health care.  Its pretty much a done deal now.
The Public Option was rebranded Medicare Part E, that's E for
Everyone.  Now even many in the GOP (aka the Party of No) are starting
to back it.  I also like the fact that anti-trust exemption for the
insurance companies is being taken away.  Its a shame that the
greatest nation on Earth has to endure one of the shittiest health
care systems in existence.  Cubans have a better health care system
than we do in the US, now that is SAD.  Thousands of people a year die
in the US because they either don't have medical insurance or are
denied coverage for one stupid reason or another.  You cannot treat
people's lives like the Stock Market, its immoral and criminal.
Anyone who supports the status quo supports corporate sponsored
murder, period.
