Since the door was opened, I'll continue my rant:
There is nothing wrong with capitalism at all. Unfortunately
the way America has been implementing capitalism is the WRONG
way. Here it's all about GREED and ripping off your fellow
human being so you can make a dollar. That is what lead to our
recent economic crisis in 2008 under our then leader
Republican President Bush (that and the unsubstantiated war
that he started... the excessive, wasteful spending... but
that's another story).
Well REGULATED capitalism is fine provided you have enough
social programs to help out ALL of the people in need. We
don't! Capitalism done right would allow for corporations and
the wealthy to make profits and PAY THEIR FAIR SHARE OF THE
TAX BURDEN which in turn would pay for more social programs to
help the less fortunate among us. It would also help to bring
down our huge national debt. Corporations and the wealthy
absolutely do not pay their fair share in our country and they
haven't for many decades. What we have now in America is
predatory capitalism and government controlled by the wealthy
through lobbyists, it's ruined many lives in the process.
The first thing Republican President Bush did when the
economic crisis hit was to bail out the corporations that
caused the economic problems to begin with. No regulations
were passed and the PEOPLE that were severely damaged were
left to fend for themselves. Many lost their homes, their
savings, their retirements and they have nothing. We have a
huge homeless problem. No one in our government did anything
for the actual PEOPLE that were in desperate need.
Fortunately things are beginning to turn around now but we
need far more action and fast.
