True, the environment is more important because without it we can't
live.  That is something most people take for granted and often forget
about.  The Tea Baggers and Climategate conspiracy theorist just don't
understand that if the climate changes too much civilization CAN fall.
 Its happened before, look at the ruins of ancient civilizations from
long ago.  Many of them were very powerful, and often its a change in
climate which prompted their downfall.  Don't think it can't happen in
modern times.  Our civilization is VERY fragile, a breakdown of one or
two basic services is enough to begin societal collapse almost
immediately.  We're too dependent on technology.  While having
technology isn't a bad thing, being too dependent on it is what will
be our downfall eventually.  Too few people know how to survive
without it, too few know how to grow their own food, make their own
clothing, or build their own shelter.  When our civilization falls it
will fall hard.
