Perhaps Unity isn't entirely about that... :)

Now, you can scrub left/right/up/down all the way across the menus and
and indicators; something that hopefully makes keyboard interaction a
tad faster and better!

Think about how things were before the indicators and global
menu---previously these were each individual and separate.
Some behaved as toggle buttons, some icons, some as menus (but only by
themselves).
