Does this work for others when they view movies?  If I install anything 
other than the gnome-screensaver, I am forced to manually disable while 
watching a film.  (Which is what I end-up doing because Jamie Zawinski 
convinced me to in his "treatise" on outside libs in a security 
application, awhile back.)  Otherwise, the screensaver will kick in 
every 5 minutes.  I've been tracking this bug in both projects, but so 
far, it hasn't reached my desktop:
