I also use LDAP and automounted home dirs, and login via LightDM does not work. With a local user, it does work.
Logging in with an LDAP user via Ctrl-Alt-F1 works like a charm.
I don't have any problems with the /etc/X11/Xsession.d/90qt-a11y script
so I didn't touch it.
Solution for me was to switch to GDM instead of LightDM.
"sudo dpkg-reconfigure lightdm", choose "gdm".
