Hi, I got updates today on my system with the latest ubuntu, and found that orca now talks. I also noticed that some of the admin apps now speak.
I haven't had time to play with this much, but one thing I did notice is that when a app didn't speak orca crashed. I was able to restart it again, but maybe there could be a way in the future for orca to start again on it's own after a crash. I think voice over in the mac has this feature.
Anyway this release already looks promising.
