working ubuntu distribution

Hello

I downloaded the ubuntu disk image from the website www.ubuntu.com.   
It was ok installing it, but after that, it is not starting.  I am  
guessing that accessibility is still broken in this copy.  I would  
just like someone to tell me how I might find a working copy.
