Hello,

I tested the recent development release Herd 4 with my Braille display
that is connected to my laptop via USB. BRLTTY recognized the display
and started Gnome. With the shortcut Ctrl+Alt+F1 I switched to the
virtual console and ran orca. After the setup, I pressed Ctrl+Alt+F7 and
then Ctrl+Alt+Backspace to log out and re-log in.

At the anew start of Orca I received the following output:

ubuntu at ubuntu:~$ orca
/var/lib/python-support/python2.5/gtk-2.0/gtk/__init__.py:69:
GtkWarning: could not open display
warnings.warn(str(e), _gtk.Warning)
Cannot start Orca because it cannot connect
to the Desktop. Please make sure the DISPLAY
environment variable has been set.
ubuntu at ubuntu:~$

I could not find any information about this problem on the web. Thanks
in advance for your hints.

Simon
