email with evolution

Having now got ubuntu 7.4 installed, I am wondering if evolution 
mail is reccommended for e-mail.

I have a mail account set up and, it is certainly sending mail but all 
I am finding on the main window is a search box.

Can anyone give me some ideas as to how to read mail with orca 
or if I am on the wrong track, suggest another mail client?
