ubuntu 8.10 textinstaller and braille

Hi all
Is it possible to start the alternative textinstaller cd with brltty?
I did that before on ubuntu 7.10 and that worked fine. I tried the
same keystrokes for 8.10 but I can't start brltty.
If it's not possible to run brltty on the cd, can anyone point me to
some good resources to make my own cd wich starts brltty and make it
possible to run the installer.
