installing with blindness profile

Hi all, I am trying to install Ubuntu Jaunty using the blindness profile
on an Asus EEE 1000h.  When I follow the instructions for bootup, it
seems like the system starts to boot, I hear "Welcome to Orca", then am
dropped to a command prompt.  Has anyone got this working with speech on
this netbook?  Thanks in advance for any info.  As always, any help is
greatly appreciated.
