Speakup on Juanty?

Hi all

I would like to know if it would be possible to install Speakup on
Ubuntu Jaunty Jackalope 8.04. Does it work with the current 9.04 kernel?

I have read that speakup 3.03 is available for Debian 2.6.28?

P.S I am still on 8.10 I hope to upgrade to 9.04 in a few days for
testing.
