Anyone know how to increase the console font size

No I don't know how this is done. I do know what caused the change however. If you are using either an intel or ATI video card, you will be using what is called kernel mode setting. Kernel mode setting sets the correct resolution for the display at the kernel level. This affects the text size of the console. You can disable kernel mode setting for your hardware, but I don't know how its done. You would have to look in the kernel documentation for the intel or ATI hardware you are using to learn how to turn kernel mode setting off.

Note that kernel mode setting being turned off by default is not something that can be considered for lucid, since various boot experience features require it to be enabled.
