status of orca on latest ubuntu

Hello,

 

I tried ubuntu 12.10 and found that with the unity desktop environment that it was very unfriendly for a blind user.

 

What is the current status of  ubuntu's accessibility?

 

Also what are the steps for installation of ubuntu using a screenreader?
