Ubuntu Mate

Hi,
I downloaded Ubuntu 16.10 from Ubuntu.com and it booted to Unity.
The problem with that is that I cannot get to any of the system Internet and Networks to connect to my WIFI.
I thought that Mate came starting with 16.
Unity is awful.
If I cannot find 16.10 Mate, how am I supposed to connect to WIFI?
