Gracias Hector, no conocía esta lista. Ya estoy suscrito por si alguien
comenta algo.

El error que obtienes ya es un bug reportado en Launchpad:
https://bugs.launchpad.net/tivion/+bug/422875

Necesitas tener python-gtk 2.16 instalado (o compilado) en Jaunty se
proporciona solo la 2.14, en karmic ya se dispone de la 2.16.

Puedes ver tu version actual de PyGTK, ejecutando:
tivion -d
o bien
tivion -debug
