[ubuntu-ar] Banshee + .exe ??

Estimados hace tiempo que uso banshee como reproductor de audio en mi
UBUNTU. Ahora bien, resulta que hoy sufrió un cuelge y me dispuse a buscar
los procesos y mediante un kill matarlos, pero me llevé una sorpresa:

$ ps aux | grep banshee
User_    25165  0.0  0.0  10952  1752 ?        S    21:14   0:00 bash
/usr/bin/banshee-1 --redirect-log --play-enqueued

que es ese .exe??

$ file /usr/lib/banshee-1/Banshee.exe

Intel 80386 32-bit Mono/.Net assembly

Me llamó la atención que tenga un .exe, seguí buscando .exe:


$ sudo find / -name *.exe

/usr/lib/banshee-1/Nereid.exe

Todos estos .exe? Acaso son ejecutables .net para levantar con mono? como es
el funcionamiento de estos?
