The just released Ubuntu 22.04 ships with wordpress 5.8.3 which is
already outdated as 5.8.4 was released addressing 1 bug and 3 security

It seems that nobody from the community has stepped up to take care of
maintaining the packaged version of Wordpress. Having it in unmaintained
in the Ubuntu archives is putting unsuspecting users at risk because
they are deploying vulnerable software.

I believe users would be better served with a manually installed
Wordpress following upstream instructions rather than use the
unmaintained version shipped with Ubuntu. As such, it would be nice to
remove the package from the archives.
