During the Feisty beta, there was a background that got pulled, but I really
liked it. I would say it had a dark, "leathery" feel to it, but it was along
the lines of what is now in Gutsy called "Smooth Chocolate."
I think it would be a bad idea to have something so dark for the default,
but here's what I liked about it (I'm better with words than pixels). Since
I haven't seen it for a few months, and even then, it was around for only a
few days, the background I'm thinking of may not really be what existed - it
could be something I've morphed in my mind.
It reminded me of a smooth, natural, organic texture that I encounter often.
The leather from the cover of a well read book, or maybe favorite bag or
jacket. It conveys something that I keep close to me often and use
constantly. It's worn but well-aged. It's not high-tech and it has no
blinking LEDs; instead, its classic, comfortable and a perfect fit. It would
seem equally at place on the side-table for an executive or the desk of a
college student.
I actually wore my bible out recently, but let me describe what it looked
like before I replaced it:
It had a tan color, something along the lines of #935912, that at one time
had a very textured grain to it (like this <

However, through several years of use and being carried around, the texture
had been worn smooth across most of its surface, in some places even glossy.
There were creases running up and down close to the spine.
I think something like this would make a great looking desktop background
for the human theme.
