"No control" doesn't mean we don't affect. This list is absolutely
about making Ubuntu beautiful and everyone who desires to do so should
be part of this community and work together to create themes and
packages.

Can we create the next theme for Ubuntu? Yes, we can. And we should
create themes of a calibre and quality that we feel is required of a
theme that will be included in the desktop. However we as an art team
do not choose the themes that go on the CD currently. The reason for
this is because up till now we have not been able to consistently
produce good solutions.

There are a few of us who have been petitioning throughout this
release cycle to focus on producing _usable_ output. This is harder
than it sounds because it requires more than just a good idea. (we're
making progress)

Once we get that step figured out then we'll focus on producing usable
and _exquisitely beautiful_ output that people will rally around for
inclusion on the CD.

Throughout this process we will show the decisions makers that we are
an _effective team_ who produces quality material that can meet their
demands and expectations and that we are ready for added
responsibility. Kind of like the proverb, "he who is trustworthy with
a little can be trusted with much."

Community created themes exist in Universe but nothing new has been
added recently (that I know of). First we'll get stuff into a PPA,
then we'll work on Universe. Then we can aim for main.
