I want to address some things from the previous thread:

I generally agree with the idea that consensus is the best approach,
but it is often never reached. This necessitates the benevolent
dictator / project leader. Who would this person be?

The way I see it, the main problem is that community-themes already
exists, but no process was ever really set up. So we're not really
starting from scratch. I can't go and declare that I'm the project
leader for something that already exists. Anyway, I'm not an artist,
I'm a packager. I shouldn't be making aesthetic decisions.

The problem with setting the deadline for inclusion too late in the
cycle is that the packaging becomes harder. It requires feature
freezes, ect to get uploaded. This bogs down the process and in the
end makes us more or less dependent on Ken pulling some strings from
the Canonical side. This is part of the problem that we are facing now
in Jaunty. It's clear that most people would like to see Impression in
the package, it's not clear if we are actually going to see this
happen.


In general, as I said above I'm not an artist, I'm a packager. My
personal interest here is to help get things done, and try to bridge
the gap between the creative folks making themes and the
technical/process work needed to get things uploaded....
