Hi Trisha,

I usually move the current /etc/apt/sources.list out of the way

sudo mv /etc/apt/sources.list /etc/apt/sources.list.au

then move a new one in ( in my case this is mirror.pacific.net)

## mirror.pacific.net, because optus are clueless ( heh, I forgot I had that comment )

deb http://mirror.pacific.net.au/pub1/ubuntu/ feisty main restricted
deb-src http://mirror.pacific.net.au/pub1/ubuntu/ feisty main restricted

.... other lines as required ...

deb http://mirror.pacific.net.au/pub1/ubuntu/ feisty universe multiverse
deb-src http://mirror.pacific.net.au/pub1/ubuntu/ feisty universe
multiverse

.. and so on. Save this as /etc/apt/sources.list, then

sudo apt-get update

Just make sure you duplicate all entries. ( for example, -updates and
-security) It isn't a bad idea to include at least the security lines from
the main mirror at the bottom of the file - for instance

#New stuff that hits the archive earlier

deb http://archive.ubuntu.com/ubuntu feisty main restricted universe
multiverse

deb http://archive.ubuntu.com/ubuntu feisty-updates main
restricted universe multiverse

#Security backup from far away ...

deb http://archive.ubuntu.com/ubuntu feisty-security main restricted
universe multiverse

Ignore the line wrap - each "deb http:// " entry goes on one line

you can do the editing with your editor of choice, for example

sudo nano /etc/apt/sources.list or
gksudo gedit /etc/apt/sources.list

and so forth....

HTH

Peter
