check internet connectivity

hi all,

during the last week I experience more and more of the following:

while browsing with Firefox after a click on a link I often get on of those pages with a retry button. Normally I have to 
press more than once till I can see the page properly.

I am running feisty and I use a Netgear DG834G WLAN router to go online with AAPT. My Firefox has lots of bookmarks/RSS 
feeds and I run around 8 addons.

How can I figure out where the bottle neck is so that I can overcome those annoying connection failures?
