failure of "linux-image-2.6.24-19-generic 2.6.24-19.41 to upgrade

Trevor here posting for first time and seeking advice,
Using Ubuntu Hardy Heron installed via Wubi.

On upgrading I received notification of failure to upgrade system (I also get the same notice when updating system. Notice states. quote:

E: sub-process /usr/bin/dpkg returned an error code 1

sorry, the package "linux-image-2.6.24-19-generic 2.6.24-19.41" failed to install or upgrade. End of quote.

I am 68 years old and new to Ubuntu. I have managed to blunder my way through so far and don't wish to be a nuisance to the group. Is this important, and does it need to be attended to? Your advie would be greatly appreciated.
