That all looks very normal right up to the dpkg part. Pity it doesn't
tell you the package name it had a problem with. What does dpkg
--configure -a give you?
Also, check that you haven't run out of disk space (df), and inodes (df
-i) if you're running on ext3/4 filesystems.
