Hi everyone,
It is great to see so many people getting involved with the en_AU translations again!
I thought I would let you know of some resources we made up a while ago, which can be quite useful when doing translations through Launchpad. You can use these in Chrome/Chromium or Firefox with Greasmonkey/Scriptish/etc.
The first is a script that will allow you to change how many strings are displayed to translate at a time. By default you will see 10 strings at a time, but we found this a bit slow, so the script here will change that to display 40 strings at a time. You can adjust that number in the script. Note though that we did find there could be a higher chance of getting a Timeout error on Launchpad with a higher number of strings, so just play around with it until you find a good number (and remember to refresh the page, because that normally fixes it). The script can be found here: http://joeladdison.com/stuff/launchpad_translate_batchsize.user.js
The second script is more useful. It takes information from the Word Substitution list that David linked to, and puts this right next to each string, if it detects a word that needs to be translated. This is based on a script that the en_GB team wrote a while ago, but we have made some adjustments to it. You can find this script at http://joeladdison.com/stuff/translation_suggestions_en_au.user.js
David linked to a page that has the en_AU stats for Utopic listed (http://projects.davidplanella.org/stats/utopic/en_AU). This is really useful to see what is still left to translate, and the graph is a nice reminder of what the status is - Thanks David! I have a similar page available showing the history of en_AU translations for several versions of Ubuntu, but for the desktop translations instead of mobile apps. If you would like to get involved with translating the desktop apps, and would like to see a graph of the progress, then feel free to check out http://joeladdison.com/ubuntu/translation/trusty/en_AU/translated (change ‘trusty’ in the url to be the version you would like). Utopic status should start coming through from today - I had forgotten to enable it before now.
If you have any questions about the translation, keep asking away on the mailing list, or you will find also me (jea) and a few others on the ubuntu-au IRC channel (https://wiki.ubuntu.com/AustralianTeam/IRC).
Thanks,
Joel

If anyone wants to work on the strings that will be available on retail phones later this year see the email below from David. As mentioned there aren't many left so if a few people got in and did some it would be done quickly.
