If you'd ask what we would want, then I'll happily invite you to get
some experience in dapper/universe, and become a regular ubuntu
developer like every other MOTU :). It's really not that hard, and its
really fun ;). The experience from that will surely help you in making
right decisions on difficult backports, and help you understanding
decisions in the release process.
