[Bug 55432] apcupsd There are many bug fixes since 3.12.1

I run an apc battery backup.  I would like to see the latest apcupsd, apcupsd-cgi, apcupsd-doc versions backported to dapper.  The versions in edgy are 3.12.3.  I had a paticular problem with apcupsd that had nothing to do with the version but I had subscribed to the apcupsd mailing list to get help and one of the developer wrote: "It's recommended to always run the latest version of Apcupsd, in this case 3.12.3". There are many bug fixes since 3.12.1.  "The current version was realeased in January 2006, 3.12.1-1.  03Mar06: apctest: Fix compile error with --disable-apcsmart. Running a SmartUPS in dumb mode requires apcsmart driver.  Link with libsupc++ (always static) when possible to avoid reliance on libstdc++. Also disable exceptions and rtti, if possible.  13Feb06:  apcsmart: Add debug output to track data returned by UPS.  09Feb06:  Introduce logf() and use it to ensure free-form debug prints make it to the trace file when using -T.  02Feb06:  net: Add support for selftest detection.  
Since I use an apc battery backup and a developer had recomended using latest version, I figured what the hay it can't hurt to try and request a back port.  No it's not critical but it would be nice to have an updated stable version.  The apcupsd web site has a very telling statement at this address: http://www.apcupsd.com/support.html It says and I quote, "Please keep in mind that we are not getting paid for this, and since the project is rather mature, there is not any active development, which means that activity and support on the list is rather light. Apcupsd is, however, being maintained, and it is our desire to see as many people using it as possible".  As you can see the apcupsd web site says that apcupsd is very mature and stable, more so considering it's battery backup software.  This software is mature and stable,reliable.
