It should be noted that the Dapper version of git-core is no longer
compatible with kernel.org, rendering it useless for it's most common
purpose ( checkout the kernel source tree ).

I built the edgy version of git-core on dapper and it appears to work
fine.  It correctly checks out and updates the kernel source tree, and a
cursory check of the dapper cogito package appears to work with the new
git-core.
