Please backport the latest version of Puppet The latest available version is 0.23.2, and is in active development still. http://reductivelabs.com/downloads/puppet/puppet-0.23.2.tgz
Please also backport the latest version of Facter, a handy package to have with Puppet which provides numerous variables pulled out of the system for use in puppet manifests. https://reductivelabs.com/downloads/facter/facter-1.3.7.tgz

The changelog is incredible and too much to summarize, suffice to say
that Puppet/Facter are in *rapid* development.

Debian Unstable has both available in their repositories -
